As 2023 draws to a close, we are excited to share our year’s journey in advancing power systems globally.
🔍 Transmission system optimization tools: stepping into the realm of AI, we began developing machine learning-driven optimization tools for planning transmission systems, and tackling complex challenges like an scalable ACOPF.
🔋 Renewable energy integration: we have taken significant strides in analyzing and planning the expansion of renewable energy in The Gambia and Papua New Guinea. Our focus has been on understanding the impact of renewables on grid stability and maximizing their inclusion.
💨 Offshore wind turbine analysis: eRoots has been collaborating in analyzing offshore wind turbines in a variety of scenarios. We have assessed national grid codes, studied the impact of harmonics, and conducted dynamic simulations to improve wind energy integration.
⚡ Short-circuit calculation development: we have made significant progress in developing short-circuit calculation tools, especially when it comes to the integration and performance of our algorithms in order to enhance the efficiency and reliability.
📐 Dynamic modeling: this year, we have developed dynamic models for a wide range of applications. This includes STATCOMs for transmission grids, unified power conditioners for distribution grids, and converters for modern hydrogen electrolyzers.
🖥️ User-friendly interfaces: to simplify processes such as the sizing of microgrids, we participated in the creation of a graphical user interface. This tool streamlines the process to ensure the optimal sizing and operation.
